Day 13 Part-2: The Rendezvous

Saturday, Feb 18th:

Today, the eight MART 2012ers were winging their way toward our rendezvous at Palm Cove, Queensland. We were all to arrive at Cairns by around 7:30 PM and meet for dinner at our hotel, the Reef House Resort & Spa in Palm Cove.

• Chris & Denny inbound from Brisbane
• Diane & Greg inbound from home via Los Angeles and Brisbane.
• Pat & Jack inbound from home via Los Angeles and Brisbane.
• Sheila & Nick inbound from Ayer’s Rock.

Six out of eight arrived as planned even with various trials and tribulations of connecting flights.

Pat, Jack, Diane and Greg arrived mid-afternoon and when Sheila and I arrived around 8 PM they were there to meet us and have a “get the MART started drink”. After dealing with a canceled flight Chris and Denny arrived about 9 PM and joined in with a couple glasses of wine. We were now all accounted for and ready to experience Australia and New Zealand.

One thing about Palm Cove, we all agreed that we had seen places like this before whether it was the coast of Spain, the beaches of Puerto Rico or the islands of Hawaii. It even has similarities to South Beach Miami. Hmmm, could there be an “Avalon” lurking in our dinner plans this week?

There are stories to tell that include:

• Who had the best inflight “jammies”?
• Who won the Valentines Day airline raffle?
• Who left a bag at the Brisbane airport?
• Who checked the toilet for water flow direction?

By 11 PM we were done, all off to our rooms and soon asleep.
