Nothing scheduled today, kind of a vacation from our vacation.
We went walking in search of the remnants of the recent Australian Open and
found that none of the super stars of tennis had stayed over to await our
arrival.

We did see the blue courts and statuettes of famous Aussie players but that was about it. We weren’t invited to play by the local tennis clubs that were using the varied courts. I just missed the shot of Sheila leaping over the net, You can see in the picture it was a safe landing.

Walking back into the town center we came upon a park and the beginning of an indigenous peoples performing art show. There were dancers and performers doing native routines as their way of keeping history alive.
We had lunch along the river, good steak sandwich and pizza. We probably added several years to the average age of the crowd along the river and in town.
It's definitely blue on those courts. Steak, pizza, kangaroo....but no Vegemite yet? I actually think I would find it easier to try the kangaroo than the Vegemite - maybe. Eww either way.
ReplyDeleteWe are in the final stages of packing ---- amazing what you can get into a relatively small suitcase --- if we watch what we eat tonight and tomorrow we should make it! Pat and Jack will stay with us tomorrow night --- then it's off to LA and the 'Land Under' early Thursday afternoon. We expect you to meet us in Cairns with a Fosters in hand!!!
