Day 4 Part-2: Around Melbourne

Thursday, Feb 9th

Here is the view looking into downtown Melbourne from our hotel, the Crown Towers.

After showers and a brief rest, we were off to the

Our three hour five course dinner was aboard an old tramcar that ambled through the streets of Melbourne. If you were wondering, kangaroo doesn't taste like chicken.

Experiences Today: Friendly people, carried a bottled soda through airport security and no one cared, didn't have to take my shoes off or my computer out of my bag at airport security, a potato/cauliflower burrito (might as well have been a hummus burrito as far as I was concerned) on our Qantas flight, saw several Qantas A380 "double decker" jumbo jets, "Skyped" with Carrie, Shannon, Barry, Noah and Grace, $25 hotel Internet fee.

  1. Dad...kangaroo, really? Though the restaurant looks/sounds cool. When you and mom went over to the Aussie Open tennis center, please tell me at least one of you wore appropriate tennis gear to just jump on the courts. Always love those people. (And yes, I know the tournament is over, but still.) Hoping to see some good pictures when you get back. Did the 12 Apostles actually look like 12 apostles or just like rocks in the sea? Just curious.

Also, for everyone else...I skyped Dad yesterday at the lobby of his hotel and there was no time lag in the audio or video. That is definitely the way to go for communicating.

  2. One day in-country and you are already dining on the indigenous fauna! To me, it's a toss-up, but I'm leaning toward the hummas burrito rather than kangaroo. Having said that, what does kangaroo taste like?

    1. As you know my appetite tends toward the fauna side of the food scale; as for Kangaroo the taste and texture are very similar to really lean beef, elk or beefalo. I don't know if it is related to the "roo" steak or not, but of late my walking pace has changed to more of a hop.

We're looking forward to your arrival.

  3. Hopping is not too bad --- if you sart to develop a pouch there is pause for concern!
